Gossip Girl 2.21 "Seder Anything" recap
April 21, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
FINALLY we got a new Gossip Girl episode tonight! Even better, there’s a new one next week too! Can’t wait!
On "Seder Anything,” 2.21 we learn Serena (Blake Lively) may or may not be married to Gabriel (Armie Hammer) and Nate (Chace Crawford) learns that his grandfather had something to do with his father’s arrest.
The episode starts with one of Blair’s famous "My Fair Lady" dreams. In the dream, Blair the pauper is selling flowers to the rich and elite so she can have her dream of going to Yale, and runs into Nate with the socialite version of Blair. Socialite Blair tells pauper Blair that going to Yale is a silly dream and she needs to wake up. Nate’s grandfather in her dream is dressed as a waiter or maitre’d and escorts Blair out of the restaurant while pauper Blair yells "This is my dream." Blair wakes upsets, but looks over seeing her invitation to Tripp and Maurine’s wedding (Nate’s cousin and his fiancee).
Going downstairs for breakfast, Blair shows new stepfather Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) her scrapbook of her last few weeks or so with Nate. But Cyrus is busy planning a Passover Seder dinner. Blair’s mom Eleanor (Margaret Colin) walks in as Blair makes plans to skip the Passover Seder for the rehearsal dinner for Nate’s cousin Tripp Vanderbilt (Aaron Tevit). Eleanor can’t believe Blair isn’t preparing for her future - instead content with becoming a socialite on Nate’s coat tails. Blair tells her Tripp’s fiancee Maureen (Holley Fain) is already on the board of four charities and two museums, and if being a socialite was good enough for Jackie O, it should be good enough for her too.

Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester)complains to Serena (Blake Lively) about having to serve detention, although it seems that Dorota is doing all the work! Serena tells her that she has never had a teacher that actually gets her like Miss Carr (Laura Breckenridge). She also admits that she and Dan (Penn Badgley) haven’t talked all week.
Meanwhile Miss Carr is chatting with Dan, saying that this story is even more than the last one. She can totally relate with the feeling of isolation, feeling like an insider. After some witty banter, she says that she’s been talking to Head Mistress Queller. Serena walks in, quite surprised that the two of them are hanging out together. After Dan leaves, Miss Carr continues to rave about his paper, causing Serena to pocket hers and ask for more time.

Gossip Girl 2.16
“You’ve Got Yale”
Original airdate: January 19, 2008
It’s the big day for Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) — Yale Day, the day when the university sends out its decision emails to early admissions applicants. Wanting to start her “perfect day” off on the right foot, Blair’s father, his boyfriend and Dorota are sporting Yale shirts to encourage Blair. They’ve even bought her a bulldog puppy named “Handsome Dan,” but Blair changes his name to “Handsome.” Go figure.
Gilmore Girl fans will appreciate that Blair spent the whole night watching old episodes, though she says she’s more fit for Yale than that “Rory.”
Her father and boyfriend hope to celebrate further with Blair later on in the evening at the opera and ask Blair if Chuck will be joining him. Blair says no, that Chuck “is as dead to me as his father is to him.” I guess that is pretty dead. We’ll have to see if things will change over the next couple of episodes. Sadly for Chuck-Blair fans, that’s about all we get in this episode.
Blair’s not the only one excited about Yale Day. Dan (Penn Badgley) stops by to see Serena (Blake Lively), worried he won’t make it in but Serena assures him he will. But Serena is worried that she will make it in and Blair won’t. They agree that this would definitely not be a good thing. Since the Dean already told Blair she was in earlier, Dan thinks they have nothing to worry about. Serena is still worried, but says “Yale is good, we are good, everything will be fine.”
They are only comforted by the fact that their parents Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford) are keeping their relationship on the down-low. Or so they think until the come downstairs together clearly from a night of passion. Serena and Dan both want to throw up it seems. But Lily thinks now that everyone knows, why hide it? She wants him to come to the opera for a charity gala so she can introduce him to her world and he reluctantly agrees. He’s not a fan of opera it seems.
As they continue stealing kisses in the kitchen, Eric (Connor Paolo) come downstairs and says the funniest thing of the whole episode:
“I would say get a room, but your room is right above mine — please try to remember that.”
Guest post: Thoughts on Gossip Girl’s “It’s a Wonderful Lie” episode

This is a guest post from Gossip Girl Report reader Norene from Dallas who is sharing her thoughts on the “It’s a Wonderful Lie” (Snowflake Ball) episode.
Guest post by Norene
I am Gossip Girl’s #1 fan and I think this episode was not bad at all — last week and the week before, but this one was not bad. I liked it! I laughed! Though my sense of humor may be questionable, since I on occasions laugh at knock, knock jokes.
What was off:
1) Lily has been a b*tch with Bart waaaay before she found out about his manila envelopes. I think she is gathering everything she can to excuse herself from her marriage with Bart.
2)Blair saying that Aaron is hot. No, he is not hot. Why in the world would she say he is hot? Is it because he comes from money? Eww! He is your soon-to-be step-brother.
3) Serena or Blake, I think we all understand that you have a killer rack. Cover it up some before you catch pneumonia. You are starting to cross the line from “Marilyn Monroe Sexy” to “Pam Anderson Sexy”. Has anyone seen the stills from her in that ball gown? It is cut short in the front to show off her legs! Too much skin!

Gossip Girl 2.06 “New Haven Can Wait” Recap
We’ve waited two weeks since the last Gossip Girl “XOXO,” and it was definitely worth the wait.
Kicking off College Week, Blair (Leighton Meester) wakes up from a nightmare where she dreams about a scene from “My Fair Lady” with her as the frumpy Eliza Doolittle character played by Audrey Hepburn in the movie and Serena as the high-class society lady who has it all together.
This is all brought on by Blair’s anger over Serena (Blake Lively) making headlines at her mother’s fashion show. They haven’t talked in a week.
Waking up, Blair tries to push her bad thoughts away, telling the housekeeper Derota how excited she is to finally walk through the gates of Yale — to be around people more like her. B is sure she will impress the Dean of Admissions at her interview and will be a shoe-in for the private reception which will get her admitted early into Yale.
Of course, she can’t escape Serena. Derota tells her Marc Jacobs has named a purse after Serena and flashes a newspaper photograph of Serena on the society page. Read more
