Today is the finals for Euro 2008 and it’s Germany v. Spain.
But the real footie action is to be found on the beaches in the Hamptons. Check out Gossip Girl’s own Ed Westwick with his fancy footwork! Hot, huh? Well, he is British - and those Brits love their football (that’s soccer to us Americans).

Leighton Meester claims she wasn’t popular in high school.
Chace Crawford was voted Best Dressed.
Blake Lively was Class President (of course).
Jessica Szohr didn’t like math.
Michelle Trachtenberg counts religion as one of her favorite subjects.
Ed Westwick gave his fans a scare last night when he was late for a Filthy Youth gig. Apparently, his taxi was involved in a minor car accident on the way to his performance. Reportedly, he texted, “Crashed on the way over. Fucked up.” Translation: I’m really okay.
Girls, he’s fine. You can stop hyperventilating now…
Fashion is such a huge part of Gossip Girl that it’s not surprising that the fashion industry would take notice. IMG Models, which reps such Hollywood starlets as Drew Barrymore and Hilary Duff, has signed 14 year old Taylor Momsen.
Momsen has made no secret of her love for the fashion industry - landing hot tickets at major shows during Fashion Week and dressing in some pretty fashion forward outfits. Yet, it’s not clear exactly what she’ll be doing with IMG - print, runway, commercials - all of them?
My guess? I think she’s totally going to do her own fashion line aimed at a younger market a la Jessica Simpson and the Olsen twins… We’ll wait and see.
Last month, Gossip Girl’s Leighton Meester and Chace Crawford made an appearance at the 2008 Telefilm Festival. The festival was held at Cinema Apollo at one of the fashion capitals of the world: Milan, Italy. Fashion, Italy, film? What’s a Gossip Girl to do?
Leighton did an amazingly classy thing: she wore an Italian designer. Big deal, you might say? Well, yeah, it is.
You see, back in the day, it used to be considered de rigeur to wear fashion from the country that you were visiting when on press junkets and the like. Icons who did this remarkably well include Princess Diana and Jackie Kennedy. But that trend has more or less fizzled with stars and politicos wearing whatever - wherever - with what seems like little thought.
But Leighton chose to honor Italian designers while in Italy by wearing a great Giambattista Valli dress. Valli, who hails from Rome, worked with Krizia, Fendi and Emanuel Ungaro before going out on his own in 2005.
Other actresses who have embraced Valli dresses include Charlize Theron, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice to you and I), Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Jessica Parker. That puts Leighton in fairly nice company.
I think that Leighton hit her marks on this dress: Italian-born designer, fresh, seasonal, young. Bella!
Lydia Hearst spoke to E! awhile back about her debut on Gossip Girl as Amelia, the interior decorator that hooks up with Chuck. Will she be back next season? See what she says:
