Leighton Meester talks about music on It’s on with Alexa Chung
June 26, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf) made an appearance at MTV studios for “It’s On with Alexa Chung” this week, talking about her music career and the upcoming release of Cobra Starship’s new video “Good Girls Go Bad” which features Meester singing with the group.

<
During the video, members of Cobra Starship join her for the interview and an clip from the video, which will be released Monday, is shown.
You’ll notice there was no mention of the supposed Leighton Meeter “sex tape.” I don’t blame her for not answering questions. This was really the wrong time for that (if there ever is a right time). But hopefully the media hoopla over Michael Jackson and Farrah Faucett deaths will make the story disappear from the headlines.

Chuck and Blair safe for now on Gossip Girl!

In case you were caught up in rumors that Gossip Girl was casting for someone that would break up our beloved new couple Chuck and Blair (Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester), don’t worry.
According to Watch with Kristin on E! Online, Chuck and Blair “aren’t breaking up anytime soon.”
Hopefully, the Gossip Girl writers will give Chuck and Blair together time to work. I know at one point, Chuck said he couldn’t imagine “Chuck and Blair going to the movies,” but I hope they DO let us see them together do something more than fight.
I mean, we know they will have to “grow,” and we don’t want them to be boring together, but this is CHUCK AND BLAIR, so let the characters do their magic and it should all work out. In the long term, who knows what will happen between them. I just want to see them try.
In fact, Ed Westwick agrees. He recently said on a red carpet interview, that he wants the couple to “give it a go.”
And just as I am a big fan of Chuck and Blair, I know there are fans of other Gossip Girl couples out there as well.
Those of you who are fans of Blair and Nate, are you hoping that Nate and Serena end up together or do you like Nate with Vanessa? I know on a past poll, many people wanted Nate and Jenny to try again.
Personally, I just want Jenny to have a boyfriend. She needs something else besides school and fashion. She needs a love life like everyone else.
Is the Gossip Girl spinoff dead?

TV networks are making the big decisions this week on what will be on their fall schedules.
The CW will make its official upfront presentation on Thursday. But just as with the other networks, word has leaked early on which pilots will be picked up.
According to multiple sources including Entertainment Weekly and E! Online, The CW will be picking up The Beautiful Life with Mischa Barton, Vampire Diaries with Ian Somerhalder and Melrose Place with Ashlee-Simpson-Wentz.
The bomb also has dropped that the beloved Privileged will not be returning for a second season.
But according to E! Online, the Gossip Girl spinoff with Brittany Snow and Body Politic with Brian Austin Green are not officially dead. E! Online says they are possibilities for the midseason.
However, Entertainment Weekly’s news about The CW pickups earlier today didn’t sound so positive - saying the Gossip Girl spinoff is “DOA.”
So what do we believe? We will just have to wait until Thursday to see what The CW says when it makes its official announcements. Hopefully, we will hear the spinoff is still a consideration for midseason. Personally, I like the idea of the spinoff. I want the ’80s fashions, ’80s music, ’80s saying and the “inside” ’80s jokes. And I love Brittany Snow. What do you think about the spinoff?
Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford gets Footloose!
May 19, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
It’s been a rumor for a while now, but it seems it’s now official.
Gossip Girl hottie Chace Crawford has been cast in Kevin Bacon’s famous role as Ren in Paramount’s remake of ‘80s movie Footloose, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
High School Musical star Zac Efron was originally cast in the role, but changed his mind recently.
HSM alum Kenny Ortega is set to produce and director the film, which won’t go before the cameras until March 2010, according to THR.
Meanwhile, Crawford has been busy filming scenes in his new movie Twelve – also starring 50 Cent, Keifer Sutherland, Emma Roberts, Ellen Barkin, among others.
Speaking of the Footloose remake, do you think Crawford can dance?
Crawford’s Gossip Girl co-stars Leighton Meester, Jessica Szohr and Ed Westwick also have been cast in movies. I’m working on those stories as well.

Help the Gossip Girl spinoff survive!

As you may or may not know, this coming Monday’s episode of Gossip Girl also serves as a backdoor pilot for the Gossip Girl spinoff Valley Girls.
As Lily remembers her earlier days when she was a lot like Serena, we will be taken back in time to the ’80s when Lily (played by Brittany Snow) was kicked out of boarding school and reconnects with her her family, including wild child sister Carol (Krysten Ritter), dad Keith (Andrew McCarthy) and mom Cece (Cynthia Watros).
I have a feeling the pickup for the Gossip Girl spinoff is going to have a lot to do with its ratings. If the rating stay the same for the show, I don’t know if the pilot will get picked up by The CW as there are not that many "spots" available. But if the ratings are good, it will have a lot better chance at getting a pickup.
Right now the Gossip Girl spinoff is in fighting for a fall pickup spot alongside pilots The Beautiful Life starring Mischa Barton and Vampire Diaries. The Melrose Place reboot is already expected to get picked up. There’s also Body Politics that could be a consideration.
Though Deadline Hollywood reported that the Gossip Girl spinoff was dead, Watch with Kristin on E! Online is saying it’s still in the air as CW executives have yet to make a decision. Thank you Kristin for tackling this topic! The network’s upfront will happen later this month and decisions will be made.
So if you love all things Gossip Girl, then consider yourself part of the force that can help bring it to life. Watch Gossip Girl Monday. Tell your friends to watch Gossip Girl. Tell those who don’t normally watch Gossip Girl to try it Monday to see if they will like the show with Brittany Snow.

Others cast are: Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Taraj P. Henson, Common, Jimmi Simpson and Kristen Wigg. Filming for the movie will start in Los Angeles.

Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr kiss off set
March 21, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass) and Jessica Szohr (Vanessa Abrams) shared a kiss during a break from filming Gossip Girl Wednesday.
A few minutes later, the two wiped their mouths with their hands to rid of their extra saliva from their smooching!
Westwick also helped Szohr walk her adorable dog!
Rumors started swirling about the new Gossip Girl real-life couple (joining Blake Lively and Penn Badgley) around Thanksgiving and slowly it has seemed to progress to this kiss (at least in public).
Do you like them as a couple?

Andrew McCarthy joins Gossip Girl spinoff
March 6, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Be still my heart! One of my favorite ‘80s movie star icons, Andrew McCarthy, has joined the cast of the Gossip Girl spinoff, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Even better, McCarthy will play Lily’s father Rick Rodes, a music company executive.
McCarthy joins Brittany Snow, who has been cast as young Lily, and Krysten Ritter, who plays Carol Rodes, Lily’s wild sister
Is it fitting that an ‘80s star like McCarthy known for flicks St. Elmo’s Fire and Pretty in Pink will now be on a show set in the ‘80s?
McCarthy recently starred on NBC’s Lipstick Jungle as Joe Bennett.

Baby girl for Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle, wife
March 6, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Gossip Girl dad Matthew Settle and wife Naama celebrated the birth of their first child, Aven Angelica, on Thursday, according to ET Online.
Settle plays Rufus Humphrey, father to Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) on Gossip Girl.
Back in November, Settle said he was "thrilled" to be a first-time father in real life.
We wish the best for the Settles as they celebrate a lot of new “firsts” as parents.

Chuck and Blair? Bring on the Gossip Girl spoilers
January 27, 2009 by Cheril Vernon

It’s not looking good — at least right now — for fans of CHAIR/BLUCK — on Gossip Girl!
Watch with Kristin on E! is reporting in her Spoiler Chat that not only are Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) not going to be together for now — there may be other couple news.
I don’t know about you, but I live for Chuck-Blair — I at least want them to show some emotion toward the loss of what they had. But that’s just me.
Sources are telling Kristin a former big couple that not everyone was fond of will be getting back together, even surprising her. And it’s not Nate and Jenny.
I’m thinking Blair and Nate from what Gossip Girl Executive Producer Stephanie Savage mentioned in a recent video. But that’s just a wild guess. Any other guesses?
In addition, Nate’s (Chace Crawford) grandfather will make him a great offer which will cause Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) to feel left out (big surprise).
Kristin calls the rest of the season a “relationship roulette.” Hmm.
We already know that Dan (Penn Badgley) and Serena’s (Blake Lively) relationship isn’t going well, and Dan is supposed to become interested in the English teacher Rachel (Miss Carr) played by Laura Breckenridge.
Except for Rufus (Matthew Settle) and Lily (Kelly Rutherford), who will continue to be extremely giddy in love. As for the Gossip Girl spin-off, they are currently casting for the show.

Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly also has some pretty juicy Gossip Girl scoops.
