Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle on fatherhood
June 21, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Gossip Girl fans know that Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle) tries to be the best father he can to Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen). So in a way, this is a Father’s Day tribute to Rufus and the actor who plays him.
Settle is now the father of a little baby girl, Ava, and is now practicing what he preaches as far as fatherhood in his real life.
I thought in the Valley Girls episode in season 2, how interesting it was when Rufus became mad at Lily for purposely getting Serena (Blake Lively) arrested. Rufus was appalled that a mother would do this on purpose, and it almost ruined his relationship with Lily.
I hope that in season 3, Rufus advises Lily on parenthood some, as she doesn’t always make the best decisions. Not that any parent is perfect, but Rufus seems to try harder than most. Happy Father’s Day to all of the Rufus Humphreys in the world!

Verizon spoiler for Gossip Girl finale
May 15, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Rufus (Matthew Settle) is still ticked off at Lily (Kelly Rutherford) in this Verizon Wireless spoiler video for the season 2 finale of Gossip Girl, “The Goodbye Gossip Girl.” Here, Rufus realizes that they already reserved seats together for the graduation ceremony.
I think the dude might have a heart attack if he doesn’t calm down soon! I know he’s pretty young, but carrying around that much stress is not good for you!
Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) and Eleanor (Margaret Colin), try to tell them - not knowing they are having troubles - to take the plung. “Marry before it’s too late,” Cyrus tells the unhappy couple.
But Rufus is mad at Lily for trying to bail him out secretly from the Poppy Lifton money scam and for putting her daughter Serena (Blake Lively) in jail to teach her a lesson.
In the finale, we are supposed to get our first glimpse at the love child of Rufus and Lily, ya know, the one they were told that died? Spoilers have said that the “love child” will be in the episode before he is revealed, so watch out for extra people in the show.
Baby girl for Gossip Girl’s Matthew Settle, wife
March 6, 2009 by Cheril Vernon
Gossip Girl dad Matthew Settle and wife Naama celebrated the birth of their first child, Aven Angelica, on Thursday, according to ET Online.
Settle plays Rufus Humphrey, father to Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny (Taylor Momsen) on Gossip Girl.
Back in November, Settle said he was "thrilled" to be a first-time father in real life.
We wish the best for the Settles as they celebrate a lot of new “firsts” as parents.

Penn Badgley and Matthew Settle on the Gossip Girl set
February 26, 2009 by Cheril Vernon

The Humphrey men of Gossip Girl, Matthew Settle (Rufus Humphrey) and Penn Badgley (his on-screen son Dan) were both spotted on the Gossip Girl set on Feb. 23.
Dan is on his cell phone while Rufus is listening to music. Who do we think Dan is talking to? Rachel (Lauren Breckenridge) or someone else?

Taylor Momsen and cast on the Gossip Girl set
February 9, 2009 by Cheril Vernon

Taylor Momsen (Jenny), Matthew Settle (Rufus) and Connor Paolo (Eric) were spotted on the Gossip Girl set recently.
Check out Taylor Momsen’s bangs. Her hair so much says “rocker girl.” Of course, Taylor loves to sing and wants to have her own band one day, so it may not just be for her character but for Taylor herself.
Personally, I think Matthew Settle looks pretty sharp in his scarf — giving our own Chuck Bass a run for his money!
Gossip Girl “It’s a Wonderful Lie” photos: What’s your favorite?

The new Gossip Girl episode “It’s a Wonderful Lie” was really an awesome episode in many ways because there was so much going on between several sets of characters — Chuck and Blair (drama), Dan and Serena (jealousy), Serena and Aaron (boring!), Dan and Lexi (chemistry), Rufus and Lily (cute!), Lily and Bart (drama), and the whole Nate, Vanessa and Jenny triangle. Add in a cameo appearance by Olympic gold star medalist Nastia Liukin, and you’ve got a packed episode full of juicy gossip!
In the pictures below, it was almost as if the wardrobe was its own character! I love Serena and Blair’s dresses. And these pictures are all keepers — from the one below of Dan and Serena having jealous issues to Lily and Rufus dancing together.
What photo do you like the best? Make up a caption to go with one of the photos and I’ll use them in a future post (keep them clean, please).

November 17, 2008 by Cheril Vernon
Matthew Settle, who plays Jenny’s and Dan’s father Rufus on Gossip Girl, says he’s "thrilled" to almost be a first-time father in real life.
He and his wife Naama Nativ (You Don’t Mess with the Zohan) were spotted last week at a dinner and a screening of the new James Bond movie Quantum of Solace, where he caught up with People magazine.
The couple said they are looking forward to their baby girl, though they are still undecided on a name.
From the picture, it looks like the baby could be here pretty soon!
