Is The CW eyeing a Gossip Girl spinoff?
December 5, 2008 by Cheril Vernon

CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff confirmed Thursday that it is looking at ways to spin off hit Gossip Girl for its next season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Ostroff told THR that the network is in discussions with producers of the WBTV/Alloy-produced show to see how a new series could be done, but nothing has been finalized, Ostroff said. Show executive producers are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.
"If it’s the right idea, we’d all embrace it and be enthusiastic," Ostroff said. "But nobody more than Josh and Stephanie want to make sure there’s the right idea that they can wrap their arms around and really be excited about."
Schwartz Denies Gossip Girl Spin Off
June 13, 2008 by Kelly
Contrary to reports that indicated that a TV spin-off was in the works a la the book series, Producer Josh Schwartz says that no such thing is in the works.
Schwartz told E!, “Not sure how this got out there, but no plans for spinoff at this moment. The books do have a spinoff, but we have nothing in the works right now other than making sure season two gets off to a great start.”
Hmm. Maybe it’s the lawyer in me - but am I the only one who thinks “at this moment” was carefully placed?
Gossip Isn’t Just for Teens: von Ziegesar Plans Adult Series
Cecily von Ziegesar, the author of the popular Gossip Girl series, is working on a new novel for adults, to be published by Hyperion.
The book, about a group of young adults who meet freshman year of college, is reportedly using the working title, Cum Laude. The characters live in New York (where else?) and include a preppy girl from Greenwich, a Manhattan hippie and an artist in Westchester.
If you believe the gossip, the book garnered seven figures for publication. Will it be worth it?
von Ziegesar has time on her hand to finish the book, for sure. Her name still appears on the Gossip Girl books but she hasn’t penned one in almost three years. According to reports, the books are now written by ghost writers.
Of course, folks are going to want to know: can von Ziegesar write for adults?

Does New York “make” Gossip Girl?
March 10, 2008 by Kelly
So much has been written about Gossip Girl’s location in Manhattan as being essential to the story line. In that regard, it’s very similar to Sex and the City where Sarah Jessica Parker referred to New York as “the fifth lady” in the cast.
It is most decidedly not like shows such as Dawson’s Creek, which happened to be filmed in my hometown of Wilmington, NC, but wasn’t actually set there - and could have taken place anywhere.
Since Gossip Girl is about to hit the UK - and that’s where I am presently - I wondered how much the location would matter here. Would the New York City location alienate viewers? Or will they care less? How important is location to the show?
So, I pose the question to you: If Gossip Girl took place in your hometown, what would be different?
Gossip Girl Revealed?
January 24, 2008 by Kelly
The New York Daily News is claiming to know the identity of Gossip Girl.
As viewers of the show well know, the identity of Gossip Girl is a big secret. In fact, Gossip Girl is only known on the show by the voice over, well done by Kristen Bell, formerly of the CW’s Veronica Mars and now on Heroes.
So what do the folks at the New York Daily News think?

What Makes an It Girl?
January 21, 2008 by Kelly

There’s a lot of speculation that the Jenny story line from the last episode may be the beginning of her “evolution” into the It Girl.
In the books, Jenny reinvents herself after a series of poor choices (I won’t give anymore away) at a new school. She wants to become the It Girl.
So, of course, I started thinking: What makes an It Girl? Dissing the Queen B? Being pretty? Being fashionable? Hanging out with right people? Is Paris Hilton an It Girl? Or just a party girl? What’s the difference?
Leave your comments below - tell me what you think makes an It Girl - and you can win a copy of Cecily’s It Girl!
Each comment counts as an entry towards the random drawing. But it has to be a real comment… Give a real life example of who is - or isn’t - an It Girl. Explain your own definition of an It Girl. Tell me why you’d want to be an It Girl (or not). It’s up to you.
Enter as often as you like. The deadline is Feb 10, 12am EST.
