Matthew Settles gives Gossip Girl spoilers in TV Guide interview
Matthew Settle, who plays rocker dad Rufus, father of Dan and Jenny on Gossip Girl, was featured in a recent TV Guide Magazine (Sept. 29-Oct. 5) about his character in Season 2 and how he’s facing becoming a dad for a first time in real life with his wife, actress Naama Nativ.
Settle gave out a few spoilers about what his character will be up to this season:
- He and Jenny will go around and around about school (we saw the beginning of that in “The Serena Also Rises” 2.05 episode)
- He will face a shocking revelation about his past with Lily (Kelly Rutherford). I wonder if that was the “secret” Bart revealed to Lily in “The Serena Also Rises” episode.
- Dating around will make Lily jealous. (She’s married but we know she still has feelings for him).
Settle also talks about how he grew up the youngest of six children born to a strict Baptist minister. His dad used to pray he would fail, Settle said, until he starred in the 2001 World War II mini series Band of Brothers. That turned the tide for his dad, who was proud of his son for his part in the mini series — as all of his uncles served in Normandy.
