Has Leighton Meester Gotten Lost in Character?

Hmm… Is life imitating art? Several publications are reporting that there may be something else to reports that Nan Zhang left the set of Gossip Girl to pursue her education. While reps for the show claim that Zhang left the show for school - without advising producers in advance - others say that’s not true. Sources on set, however, say that Zhang was pushed out because Leighton didn’t like her.
I dunno. It doesn’t make sense to me. While I admit that I thought that her exit from the show was a bit abrupt, I can’t imagine why Leighton would have any reason to dislike her. She didn’t pose a threat to Leighton’s air time or to the character of Blair. Why would Leighton otherwise care?
