Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen made an appearance at the ‘HERO: A United Nations Association Campaign’ benefit reception at Paris Commune on March 27, 2008 in New York City.

HERO is a campaign meant to build awareness and raise money for orphans and at risk children living in HIV/AIDS-affected communities in Africa. Currently, there are programs in South Africa, Ethiopia, Namibia and Zambia. Initiatives include building infrastructure to provide clean water and sanitation, food and education.

Of course, this makes me wonder: does a star’s involvement in a charitable cause make you more inclined to donate your time or resources?

This week’s Gossip Girl Report Wedding Contest challenge is to design the invitations and plan the location.

Describe your ideal Gossip Girl wedding location and invitation. You can include artwork - photos, sketches, drawings - to illustrate your entry if you want but artwork is not required. Remember, though, that creativity counts so artwork can add to the “va-va-voom!” of your submission.

It’s a contest!

In anticipation of the Gossip Girl wedding this season, I thought it would be fun to plan the wedding ourselves!

So here’s how it works.

There will be SIX categories:

Location & Invitations
Flowers & Decorations
Music
Dress & Ring
Food & Drink
Honeymoon

Each week, I’ll post the topic for planning on Sunday - the first week, for example, it will be Invitations.

Send me your ideas for the best in each topic - the best invitations, for example - by midnight EST on Tuesday. You can either describe your ideal (be as detailed as possible) or submit artwork that illustrates your ideal.

I’ll choose my top three favorites in that category to post on Wednesday and the readers will vote on those three choices by posting their votes in the comments. The submission that receives the most votes/comments by 11:59 pm EST on Saturday wins in that category.

I’ll choose an overall winner randomly from those who submitted the winning entries in each of the SIX categories. If you win more than one category, you will be entered more than once. The overall winner will receive the Gossip Girl boxed set.

Despite the hype, Gossip Girl is suffering from poor ratings in the UK after just one week.

Initial reports were that the audience was strong - 520,000 viewers tuned in to see what Blair, Serena and the gang were up to. But the fashion, music and cast weren’t enough to keep their attention. Fifteen minutes later, the audience was down to 244,000 - many had tuned into ER on another channel.

The plummet was enough to leave Gossip Girl with just 293,000 viewers, far below the average audience for the slot last year (471,000).

According to rumors flying all over the internet, Carrie Underwood actually broke the news of the split up this morning on the radio. I didn’t hear it, did you?

There is no official confirmation from either party, but Us Magazine is reporting that sources have confirmed that Chace Crawford and Carrie Underwood have called it quits.

Of course, this is no surprise to Gossip Girl fans who have been wondering for a while now why Chace has not appeared in public with the American Idol winner. He has been out with a number of girls, including Playboy bunnies and Mary Kate Olsen.

Neither side has released an official statement - but Chace buddy JC Chavez has publicly confirmed that he and Chace are not gay and are not dating. Rumors of the inseparable duo (JC and Chace, not Carrie and Chace) have added fuel to the rumors that Chace would be separating from Carrie.

Personally, I think he has a few wild oats to sow and is just now enjoying being rich and famous. Carrie’s had the chance to get all of that out of her system and is probably looking to settle down soon - especially if the rumors that Carrie has been mooning about Tony Romo’s upcoming engagement to Jessica Simpson are true!
