The Strike Is Over, You Were With Me All The While
TV producers are confident that writers will return to work as early as Wednesday now that official actions are in place to end the walkout. On Sunday, guild leaders recommended a tentative three-year contract to members and asked them to vote separately on a quick end to the walkout.
The strike’s end means that many shows could return this spring, airing anywhere from four to seven new episodes. However, shows with marginal audience numbers may not return until fall. I’m not sure where Gossip Girl would land in all of this - the ratings aren’t great but the buzz and internet sales have been solid.
Some writers have apparently voiced their dismay with the tentative agreement, claiming that their share of internet revenue is still not appropriate. Nonetheless, others claim that it’s a solid win for the writers.
Fingers crossed and… kudos to anyone who got the 1980s title reference.

ALERT: Gossip Girl Expects to Shoot 5-6 Episodes This Season

[…] According to TV Guide, Gossip Girl is on the list of shows that will complete production this season. While Gossip Girl was originally slated for 22 episodes, the cast only shot 13 episodes due to the writer’s strike. While many productions crews were calling for “all hands on deck”, the end of the strike wasn’t an automatic pass for all TV shows. Nonetheless, Gossip Girl made the cut with predictions that we’ll see 5-6 episodes (as opposed to the 9 initially contemplated) by the end of the TV season - which is pretty close to where I thought we’d be.
