“The Thin Line Between Chuck and Nate” Recap, Episode 1.13

The Scandal

Serena goes to the pharmacy and buys a pregnancy test. Within moments, a photo of the purchase is all over the web via photos and rumors from Gossip Girl.

Dan finds out about the pregnancy test from Jenny. Unfortunately, Rufus is there, too, when Jenny sees the photos. Rufus gives Dan “the talk” about being a teen father. Dan says that he will do the right thing by Serena.

Dan tells Serena that he knows about the pregnancy. She tells him that she is not pregnant but doesn’t tell him anything more. He assures her that he would have done the right thing. He tells her that he loves her but she thinks he only did it because he thought she was pregnant.

The Clique

Jenny shows up on the steps a few minutes later and Blair is rude to her. Jenny begins to think that she doesn’t want to be a part of the group after all.

Blair’s Drama

Blair and Serena have yet another confrontation about the pregnancy test. Serena is concerned - and distracted - about Blair. She confides in Dan who advises her to tell Chuck.

Serena goes to see Chuck, hopeful that he will convince Blair to take the pregnancy test. Serena does - and Chuck tells her that he used a condom when he had sex with Blair. He tells Serena that it must be Chuck. Serena had no idea that Blair had sex with Nate.

Serena goes to see Blair and confronts her about the pregnancy test. Later, Blair rings Serena to tell her that the pregnancy test is negative.

Rufus

Bex comes to the gallery looking for more art. Remember her? She is the art dealer who bought a piece from Allison’s collection for Lily. She stops by the gallery again to check on a few new works - and ask Rufus out.

When Bex shows up at the gallery for her date, Rufus has another girl waiting in the wings. A customer from earlier, Bren, is at the gallery to ask Rufus out again. Bex is angry and walks away. She comes down to the gallery the next day and insists that he ask her out again.

Chuck is Back.

Bad Boy Chuck is back, it appears. After a quarre with Blair, he sends a spiteful message to Gossip Girl telling her that Serena was covering for Blair - and that Blair slept with two boys in one week.

The whole school finds out - including Nate. He asks Jenny what she knows and she tells him about Chuck.

Nate and Chuck have a very public fight about Blair. Nate tells Chuck to go away forever.

Blair and Nate.

Blair goes to see Nate and they have a terrible fight. Nate tells Blair that he is done with her. She tries to tell him that he has misunderstood and he blurts out that Jenny would not lie. Nate then leaves Blair, alone, at his house.

Blair next goes to see Serena. She blames Dan, Serena’s “low rent boyfriend” for telling Jenny.

Queen Bee.

Blair finds out that the whole school knows about her indiscretions. She is dethroned at school.

All of the girls leave her - except Jenny. Blair dares her not to go away, threatening to ruin her if she does. Jenny leaves anyway.

Blair goes to see Chuck, as a last resort. He tells her that he is done with her - that she held no fascination for him now that she is like his father’s Arabian steeds, “rode hard and put away wet.”

Serena and Dan.

Dan tells Serena that he loves her. She doesn’t answer him. Eric and she figure out that she has trust issues because of her mom’s failed relationships.

Serena asks Dan why he loves her. Dan gives Serena the “I love you” speech. He reminds her that she is always a good friend to Blair - and she has to leave. She needs to find Blair.

Blair is on her way to France. She wants to “start over” - Serena tells her to start over in New York, with her.
