Gossip Girl Christmas… How Was Yours?

My friends were mocking me during last week’s episode because I mentioned that I thought it would be really hard to have a lot of money at Christmas. Wait, hear me out. Buying Christmas presents can be tough - especially for extended family. If your extended family had the means to buy themselves whatever in the world they wanted all year round, what can you possibly get them at Christmas that means anything?
Of course, Serena had the opposite dilemma. She could buy anything that she wanted - and Dan couldn’t - which means that she went over the top as a habit. Scaling down was difficult.
All of this made me think about presents and meaningful gifts. My questions to you are:
1, What’s the most meaningful present that you’ve ever received, irrespective of cost?
and
2, If money were no object, what would you buy for someone special in your life (could be family, friends, whomever)?

Wow! What a set of questions! Well, I didn’t celebrate Christmas or any holidays until I was 17 years old, so that first Christmas was amazing.
However, when my husband and I decided to get married, we chose to tie the knot in early December as an early Christmas gift to ourselves. That is probably the most meaningful (cue the sappy music).
If money was no object, I would buy my grandmother the condo that she deserves, complete with all the things she loves and needs.
By the way, anyone who met me at the Blog World Expo this past November will know that I really wanted an Xbox 360 with a specific game - guess who got one yesterday?!?!?!? Here’s a hint - ME! LOL.

1- most meaningful: the first presents I got from my husband, when we were g/f and b/f: 3 perfumes and a pair of earrings. I could also count my engagedment ring, as we got engaged near xmas. And of course his presence in my house for xmas and new years! Also, the toys my father used to give me when I was a kid.
2 - if money was no object: My husband: the newest and improved computers launched; several computer games, playstation 3 and Wii, along other tech things I could find.

1. My Christmas’ have never been very big, but I’d have to say it’s when I was 8 and my uncle gave me a limited print of this beautiful picture of a little boy fishing and a little mermaid. So whimsical. I treasured it, although never could have it out because it wasn’t framed. I fixed that 3 years ago and it is beside me in my office.
2. I would take all my friends on a big vacation. Most have never been anywhere special and I think that would be great and would create amazing lifelong memories for us all.

1, I think the best presents are never about the money. My favorite present was a photo album (printed on mac.com) of my first year with my daughter. Hubby has made one every year since.
Another fave was a set of Nancy Drew books when I was a kid, 5-6 at a time, from a family friend. It led to a lifetime love affair of reading, entertainment and writing.
2, If money were no object, I would buy my parents a condo in a city so that they could retire and not have to drive.
