Gossip Girl’s Chuck is a Filthy Youth

Gossip Girl has always been the place to hear fresh, hot music. It’s about to become even better.
Gossip Girl will feature music from Ed Westwick’s band, The Filthy Youth, on an upcoming episode. Westwick co-wrote and performed lead vocals on two songs, “Orange” and “Come Flash All You Ladies,” which will be showcased in “School Lies,” on January 2.
(***spoiler alert*** Don’t read on if you don’t want to know!)
In the “School Lies” episode, Serena, Blair, Nate and Chuck break into the school swimming pool for a night of fun but when a member of their group nearly drowns, the school threatens to expel the person responsible for the break-in. Now we know what the headmaster is talking about in the promo.
Ed Westwick is no newbie on the entertainment scene. He was trained at the National Youth Theatre in London (yes, in real life, he has a British accent - his American one on the show is flawless) and has performed in an indie rock band for the last two years. Westwick fronts The Filthy Youth with Jimmy Wright, Benjamin Lewis, Tom Bastiani and Jon Vooght.
I popped over to the web site and gave the music a listen. I am a fan - it’s very retro 80s indie music. I wonder what my friends at Brit Music Scene think of it… I’ll ask Dave for his opinion. And yours? What do you think about the band? Good? Or just another singing actor?
