“Blair Waldorf Must Pie” Recap
Throwdown on Thanksgiving.
Serena and Blair have an argument about Chuck. Serena found out that Blair and Chuck slept together (twice) and an argument ensued. Blair uninvites Serena from Thanksgiving.
Serena, her mom and Eric go shopping for Thanksgiving dinner - only Lily isn’t exactly a chef. Dan is sorry to hear that Serena and her family have nowhere to go and invites the whole gang to Thanksgiving at his house. He chaffeurs the whole crew over to Brooklyn in a van.
Blair is devastated to hear that her father will not be coming to dinner on Thanksgiving. Her mother tells her that he is staying in Paris rather than come for a visit (a flashback shows how important Thanksgiving is to the family).
Nate and his family have a dysfunctional Thanksgiving together. Nate’s mother blames his father for her faltering social life.
Alison and Rufus share a family moment just before Thanksgiving. Their momentary happiness is disturbed when Lily shows up with Serena and Dan. Lily, Alison and Rufus agree not to divulge the details of their pasts - but that was short-lived. After Serena leaves to respond to Blair’s call for help, Jenny and Dan learn that Lily and Rufus had a past. Alison tells Dan that Lily was Rufus’ first great love. Alison later overhears Lily reminding Rufus of their kiss at Eleanor’s party.
Blair called Serena because she argued with her mother about her father and leaves the table to resume an old habit… bulimia.
Nate returns to his house after getting some fresh air to find his father on the floor, unresponsive. He had taken Vicadin and whiskey in what appears to be a suicide attempt. Later, Captain admits that he tried to kill himself.
Alison forces Rufus to make a choice between her or Lily. He chooses Alison.
Blair’s mother finally admits to Blair how much her father leaving him really affected her.
(Note: there were continuous flashbacks through out, I’m choosing not to focus on them because I found them rather annoying)

I’m honestly a little disappointed that there was no more Chuck-Blair development in this one!

Yeah same. I think that there was also potential to build on the Nate and Jenny friendship/relationship potential

but at the preview of this weeks– that was blair and NATE on the bed… that should be interesting and i am so happy!

I actually quite liked the flashbacks.
I mean, how else would they be able to build the character of Blair’s father without some sort of re-cap of the year previous. It really helped develop the mother-father marriage issue before anything really got so intense, and it also showed the Blair bulimia struggle.
It was really important for them to add the flashbacks in there, even though you feel they were annoying or a bother for your ability to comprehend the episode as a whole.
