Blake and Leighton: Frenemies?
I was really struck by Blake Lively’s comment on “The View” that people like to pit her against Leighton Meester as “frenemies” - you know, friends and yet enemies? She claims that it isn’t true. But more interesting, she commented that the folks that spread those kind of rumors only do it about women; she pointed out that you don’t hear people making up those stories about say, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford.
And I started thinking about it and she’s right.
Think about all of the classic girl/women rivalries that you hear about in the press:
Lauren and Heidi on The Hills
Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera
Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan (okay, anyone and Lindsay, that might be true)
Alyssa Milano and Shannon Doherty on Charmed
Jennie Garth and Shannon Doherty on Beverly Hills 90210
Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell
Who am I missing?
As for Blake and Leighton? They look like they got along just fine on this prior appearance on MTV’s TRL:
