A Gossip Girl Primer: Leighton Meester
Leighton Meester (pictured here with castmates Nan Zhang and Nicole Fiscella) is one of the better known faces on Gossip Girl. Unlike Blake Lively, Leighton has been acting for a number of years, dating back to a 1999 episode of Law and Order. She went on to nab appearances in such hits as Boston Public, Crossing Jordan, Entourage and 7th Heaven before really getting noticed in a four episode arc on 24 in 2005. Since then, she’s gone on to other noteworthy appearances on House, Numb3rs, CSI: Miami and Veronica Mars. Perhaps her biggest role was as “Savannah” on the Emmy-nominated sci-fi/horror show, Surface; despite acclaim from the Academy, the show only lasted one season.
Meester seems to have been born in front of the camera, since she’s been acting and modeling ever since she was a child. She was born in 1986 in Florida but moved to New York City with her family when she was only 11. In New York, she initially signed with Wilhemina modeling agency and soon landed a coveted Ralph Lauren shoot. Modeling led to acting and she’s been busy ever since.
Meester landed the role of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf, the best friend and biggest rival of Serena van der Woodsen. One of Blair’s favorite movies is Breakfast at Tiffany’s - expect Meester to channel a little Hepburn this season.

I agree… It looks so much like Gilmore Girls. I’m thinking about watching the show to see if it’s anything like Gilmore Girls. Though nothing can replace Gilmore Girls. The show will always live on!

i hated gilmore girls it was such a boring show and the characters werent interesting whatsoever.
gossip girl is nothing like that.

Gilmore girls? NOOOT AT ALL! GOSSIP GIRL IS SO MUCH BETTER!! is da best show in da world! im addicted. They r da best characters and pls gilmore girls suck cuz its totally boring and they only seem to be da same cuz of da name but thats false! watch da show n u will see its so interesting and waaaayyy better :D i love it! I LOOVE BLAIR! shes so pretty and jenny is too.

Gossip Girl is classy, dramatic, unexpected. Director’s don’t make of UpperEastSide a place where there is no evil, cry or sad. Blair or Serena got much cash but their problems are just as ours. Hooking up with boyfriend, making a bad decisions. It’s quite educative, isn’t it? :) All I wanted to say is that I adore Gossip Girl and I always will!!!

I’m a fan of GG myself and I think blair is so pretty but I don’t think jenny is?! Does anyone agree with me? Also how old are serena and blair meant to be in the series cause noone ever meantoins it.
