Hot off of her success in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (and yes, she’s in the sequel), Blake Lively is about to become a lot more popular. She landed what is arguably the Gossip Girl lead, Serena van der Woodsen, earlier this year - reportedly one of the first characters to be cast in the series.
Blake (full name Blake Christina Lively) was born in California on August 25, 1987 to actor parents (was there any doubt what her fate would be?). She is the youngest of five children - all of whom participate in the entertainment industry in some fashion.
Blake landed her first film role when she was just 11 years old, with a bit part in the movie, Sandman. She took a self-imposed hiatus after the film to go back to high school. Following graduation, she found success with her first significant part in 2005’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
Blake is currently involved in a number of film projects, including the Pants sequel. I’m betting that none of those projects will make her a household name like Gossip Girl.
